The Long Pour

Long pours at a long bar

Date of visit: January 2026

This is a bar’s bar located in the East Village. They advertise as “the only stop you’ll want to make” and I see the vision. Beer, liquor, and customers at all times of day. The highlight of my last NYC trip.

Vibe:

Came in for a few afternoon drinks to shake off the train ride, lubricate my mind, and make a gameplan for the evening. Immediately felt at home. The wooden bar, the eclectic decor, darts, and flatscreens: all hallmarks of a regular watering hole. Nothing flashy or pretentious.

I was easily the youngest person in the building at this time of day; the day drinking crowd was far past retirement. Not too crowded but not empty. Watched a geriatric bar rat say “see you tomorrow” to the bartender and make extensive use of the handrail in an effort to ascend the stairs. The staff was less concerned than I was and I’m sure the man followed through on his promise.

I asked many millennial compatriots for recommendations in the neighborhood and none mentioned here. I take this as a ringing endorsement, as all of their suggestions were terrible. Further research will show if they were steering me away from the good spots or if this is truly beneath their radar. I don’t expect the fashionable crowd here during future visits.

This esteemed canine is apparently the bouncer

Drinks:

Beer and liquor at reasonable prices. Everything , including prices, laid out on their website.

I drank half liters of Radeberger. Saw evidence of beer & shot specials that require further investigation around the 2am timeframe.

Bonus:

They have Malört
